Chapter 7.5 - Doug

Hi all! Welcome back to my apo where more then half the restrictions have been lifted. Woohoo!!! I think there will be two more generations in the Pitt family line before all of them are lifted, but all and all that's not too bad. Many restrictions were lifted last chapter but none will be this time. This chapter's all about babies...enjoy!

Journal Entry - Our First Child

Late one night while I was sound asleep I was suddenly awoken by Marina's screams. Apparently, it was time for the baby to be born. As I rubbed the sleepiness from my eyes I could see Marina clutching her stomach in pain.

I got out of bed as quickly as I could. Marina was growing impatient and started flapping her hands around for some more attention. I rushed to her side as quickly as I could. Nothing I did seemed to calm her down at all though.

After several torturous hours for both her and me our first son, Vince was born. The two of us stood over Vince for several minutes taking in every ounce of his being. Neither of us could believe we had created such a beautiful child.

Don't ever get in the way of a mother being with their child. One afternoon the elevator broke and while I was trying to fix it all Marina did was complain that she couldn't get up to Vince. She was a nervous wreck thinking about all the things Vince might need her for but she couldn't help him with at the moment. It only took about 40 minutes for me to fix the damn thing but she acted like it was a life time and Vince could have starved during that time or something.

Marina told me the other day she might be pregnant again. I think she's probably right too because she's been throwing up in the early mornings just like she did when she first got pregnant with Vince. It's nice to know Vince will have a little brother or sister to play with when they get a little older.

Even if he didn't have any siblings though I'd make sure to play with Vince in my free time. I'm looking forward to when he's old enough to play catch with outside in our backyard, but for now I'll just enjoy tossing him up in the air.

Vince's birthday snuck up on Marina and I. We were still getting adjusted to having him around when we realized he would be getting a bit bigger. We wondered what new experiences toddlerhood would bring for all of us.

We didn't have much time to let our minds wander though before Vince was all grown up. He's extremely neat and outgoing but rather lazy. He has both our eyes and my brown hair.

While I'm away at work Marina tries to teach Vince all his toddler skills. Learning how to say teddy bear was an easy word for him to learn but high chair didn't come so easily. At least he can say mommy and daddy easily.

I don't know how us men get stuck with the dirtiest jobs. As if taking out the garbage wasn't bad enough I have to clean the poop out of the training potty. Marina refuses to do it and waits until I get home to clean it.

I can barely hold back the vomit that creeps up my throat as I empty it out. The smell of it is enough to kill someone. I can't really say I blame Marina for not wanting to clean it herself, but why should I have to be the one to clean it.

Augh! It is so disgusting!!! I can't believe something so tiny can produce so much waste. Ew!

The other day while I was out picking up groceries I found this cool outfit for Vince that says Punk on the front of the shirt.

I found it very suiting since I had changed my hair style not long ago to look rather punkish, which I'm sure you're all wondering why the heck I did that. First, let me tell you I switched over from my position as a Cult Leader to a Substitute Teacher. Quite a change, huh? Well, there's rumors that in a neighborhood far, far away called Prosperity Canyon* there's this headmaster who has a mohawk named Tommy Lee and he is very popular. Sims in my neighborhood like me well enough but I want to make a lasting impression on them and think a mohawk might be just the thing to put me over the top.

*No joke, Kitty is writing a Prosperity Challenge and really has a headmaster with a mohawk who goes by the name Tommy Lee. http://kittysprosperitychallenge.blogspot.com/2007/09/prosperity-canyon-introductions.html

It's been a couple years since I carefully moved all my family's urns outside to the backyard. Their ghosts have mostly kept to themselves since then and we're all grateful for that. It's a shame we lost several urns over the years to angry teens smashing them but in the end I suppose it saved some lives or at least heartache.

Journal Entry - Our Growing Family

Marina is always telling me how thankful she is that Vince can find things to occupy him while she sneaks in a little nap during the day. It was one thing to be pregnant while she didn't have a child to take care of but now that she has to keep an eye on Vince she finds herself far more exhausted this time around.

Marina went into labor with our second son, Rudy when I was at work. I tried to get home in time to help her but by the time I arrived little Rudy was already born. As I walked up the stairs I could see her gently massaging his back. It was hard to believe I had another son to take care, but reality really sunk in when I held him in my arms for the first time.

Vince's birthday rolled around a couple days later. Marina and I couldn't have been more relieved. It was hard enough taking care of one child in diapers let alone two.

Although, we didn't have a big birthday party for him Vince grew up well. He would be starting school in a couple days and that would allow Marina more time to look after Rudy and make sure he got the attention he needed as an infant.

As Marina and I watched Vince leave for his first day of school we couldn't have been more excited for him. He showed many signs of being a smart boy and we were sure he'd do very well.

Each night after I came home from work I helped Vince with his homework. I wanted to make sure he had all the necessary tools he needed to achieve in school. Not to mention it'd look really bad as an educator myself if my children didn't succeed in school.

I helped out with Rudy as much as I could. Marina was often nearby in case I needed her but usually she'd see I was handling things just fine and wander off to do something else.

The older I get and the more eventful my life gets the faster time seems to move. It seriously seems like just last week we were welcoming Rudy into this world and now it's already his birthday. I can hardly believe it. It doesn't seem to have phased Marina in quite the same way it has me but she has more time with him then I do anyway.

Rudy's a lot like Vince in looks and personality but he is a bit more playful then him. Marina's gearing up to teach him all his toddler skills over the next few months. She says it should be a piece of cake this time around.

I still helped out where I could. I knew Marina could do it all by herself but I wanted to stay as involved in my children's lives as possible. Rudy is very close to being able to walk without any help. It'll probably be a matter of days before he can walk to Marina or I all by himself.

Journal Entry - Third Times a Charm

We just learned Marina is pregnant again. As I talked to our unborn child I hoped it'd be our last. The more children we have the harder it is to make sure they all get the attention they deserve. Marina seems to be on the same page as me and is talking about getting a job when Vince starts high school in a few years.

Vince is proving to be a handful as a kid. Instead of helping his mom out with Rudy he causes trouble wherever he can. I've caught him jumping on our bed quite a bit and had to send him to his room without dinner a couple times.

If he's not creating havoc in our house he's playing outside in the snow. I try and have snowball fights with him as often as I can but if I'm not home he'll either make snow angels or snowmen. Really, he's a good kid who just needs someone to play with. I think as soon as Rudy's old enough him and Vince will become best of friends.

Knowing that only in a few short years she'll be out in the working world Marina has been doing some studying for the job she hopes to get. She still hasn't told me what she's hoping to do but I'm sure it'll benefit us greatly whatever it is.

Most afternoons just before Vince arrives home from school Rudy and Marina take a nap. Somedays their naps run a little longer then others. The day Vince finally brought an A home from school Marina was zonked out. Vince tried and tried to get her to wake up but she wouldn't budge. Later that night when I got home I made sure to praise him for his hard work. I explained that his new baby brother or sister was coming any day now and that Marina needed her rest but he better believe she was proud of him too.

Sure enough, that very same evening while I was sound asleep yet again just like when Vince was born Marina went into labor. She made sure to wake me up. There was no way she would let me miss the birth of this child after I wasn't around for Rudy's birth.

This birth seemed to run much smoother then when Vince was born though. It probably had something to do with the fact this was her third time but another reason for the difference might be that we had a girl this time rather then a boy. Jane's the first girl to be born into our family in a couple generations. My mom and grandma both had all boys.

Okay, since I have an obsession with pointy ears and personally think after his makeover Seth is by far the better looking of the four boys I decided to play Seth and James lives out a bit on the same lot but in different houses. In this picture both boys are marrying their college sweethearts. On the left James married Beverly, a fortune sim just like him and on the right Seth married Lauren, a popularity sim just like him.

I made their houses the same initially. Although, the one on the left where Seth and Lauren live in had to be expanded eventually.

I wanted to see the pointy ears live on so I made sure Seth and Lauren had children together. Their first son, Heath didn't inherit them so I decided to try again but this time I forced them to have twins to increase the chances. They had a boy, Troy and a girl, Janice and lucky for me Troy inherited his father's pointy ears. Yippee!!!

This chapter really should have been apart of the previous one but I wasn't sure if I'd surpass the character limit or not so I split in into two. Marina will be telling the next chapter, where hopefully she'll find the job I want for her and Doug and her children will start to grow up.

Were you actually going for the girl there? Looks like if things go well you'll only need this generation to finish, maybe another. Great job.
