The Prelude :: Part 2

Welcome back, everyone! Thank you all for any comments you might have provided after my first installment. I enjoy hearing feedback so keep it coming.

Last time we left Brad at the end of his 2nd year of college. He'd been writing letters home to his parents and I'd been intercepting them to find out what he's doing. He's a pleasure sim with the LTW of having 50 first dates, but so far he's only had 18. Can he get all 50 before he graduates and will he ever meet Angelina? Find out now. Both questions will be answered.

Dad,

Tell mom she needs to relax a little. I got her last letter and she didn't seem very pleased about all the different girls I've been dating. I know woman aren't woohoo objects. In fact, I haven't woohooed a single girl I've dated. I'm waiting for the right girl to come along before I do that. I'm trying to have fun while I can because once I graduate it's time for me to start acting like an adult. I only have one chance to be young and care free and I want to make the most of it. I hope before I graduate I'll find the right sim to spend my life with but until then I'm dating as many as possible.

I decided to try the matchmaker again for my next date. I only paid about $200 simoleans though so she wasn't very impressed. A girl named Marina dropped out of the sky. We had very little in common so we decided not to even attempt a date.

*Marina, aka smoothiequeen over at boolprop, writes the Fitzhugh Legacy. There's a very evil yet sexy guy named Rhys in her legacy trying to stop her from finishing. It really is a must read. Well, what are you waiting for...go check it out.

One night while I was on a date with a new girl this crazy, old lady started staring at us. She had a real upset look on her face too. As the night sky lit up from a lightning bolt a chill ran down my back. Perhaps, making out in public isn't the most appropriate thing to do but I still can't believe what she did next.

*The sim standing to the right of them ordering an espresso is Monica, aka Olamina at Sim Swap. She created the Lupin and Patel families at Swap and has done the apocalypse challenge as well. You can find apo stories about it on her sim page. Her SN at the Sims2 is olamina4124.

The second my date and I pulled apart from each other the crazy, old lady started beating my date with her purse. There wasn't much I could do so I just stood their in shock and watched. My date was none to pleased with me and left shortly after the incident. I realize now I should have tried to stop the old hag from hurting my date but alas it was too late.

Mom,

Maybe I am dating too much. I hardly ever see the guys anymore. George and I are such good friends but I feel we've only seen each other in passing lately. On second thought, I think it's time for us to go on another double date. The first one we went on was great fun.

George is quite the ladies man. His charm makes the most outgoing of girls blush. He swears he'll never marry and that the singles scene is more his style.

I'm not quite sure what happened in that photo booth him and his date snuck into during our double date but I have some ideas. When the booth started rocking back and forth and the rest of us in the general area could hear kissing sounds we all just looked at each other in shock. I don't think I could ever be so bold in public.

I may not be the best student since I never do my homework and influence others to write my term papers but I am working on building up my skills. You'll be proud to know I have just maxed out my body points and haven't fallen off the dance sphere in a semester or two now.

One night while I was downtown looking for a new face to have a date with a lady named Cass approached me. She mumbled something about an apocalypse and not wanting to marry into mine until much, much later down the line when the family actually has some liberties and freedom again. I quickly shifted my eyes away from her and walked the other way. She must be crazy. An apocalypse, what was she talking about. Hmm.

*Cass is from Sim Swap. She created the Grant and Brenner Sim Swap families and has also attempted the apo challenge...twice. She lost interest both times though and quit. You can find her stories on it over at Sim Swap's forum.

I've spent a lot of time downtown this semester and have met all kinds of people. Plum, a plant sim, is definitely the most unique of them all. Supposedly, he spends a lot of time swimming.

*Plum is from July's Sim Swap challenge. He has a sister named Cherry and they live with a vampire.

*The guy sitting down on the right hand side is Aaroc from boolprop. I think he's now writing 3 different legacy's: an Elfin legacy, a Space Oddity legacy and a new type of uglacy.

At the end of my first semester junior year I maxed out a second skill, charisma and managed to have a lot of dates. I am now only 1 date short of having 30 total first dates. I think that is quite an accomplishment. My grades are doing fine too. I'm definitely not in fear of failing.

I hope everything's going well at home. I'll write again soon.

~Brad

Hiya Mom and Dad,

George, Perry, Devon and I decided to get a place of our own this semester. I know there's only 3 semesters left but we were all getting sick of the dorms and wanted something a little different. The place isn't much but at least there's fewer sims around that we don't know. Perry and Devon are sharing a room and George and I are sharing another one. Fortunately, we're not girls because the place only has one bathroom.

Shortly after moving in I invited my 30th first date over. I can't believe I've gone on so many dates already and still haven't met the right girl. I guess the dating must continue until I do. Wish me luck. I'm running out of time and girls, for that matter.

I haven't been visiting downtown as much this semester but I've gone down there a couple times. On one of my visits I met a nice lady named, Kittylynn. I thought about asking her on a date but figured she's too good for me to use her like that.

*Kittylynn writes the Gemstone apo turned legacy. She can be found at both Sim Swap and Boolprop.

Okay, don't get the wrong idea but I agreed to a date with the girl from my dorm who wrote my term paper one semester. I probably shouldn't have because she's kind of been stalking me, but I thought I could finally put an end to her madness. After about an hour I whispered in her ear I didn't want to date her anymore and that whatever she thought was going on between us really wasn't. She looked at me in complete horror and ran out on our date. I kind of feel bad about it but she really needs to move on.

I had previously gone on a date with the Countess from downtown but we didn't really hit it off. Then one night out of the blue she decides to stop by and say hi. I was a bit busy talking up a new girl I'd met so Devon offered to keep her busy. After just a few minutes I could hear them in the background giggling like little kids. I think they may really like each other because she didn't leave until almost sunrise.

Devon has caught onto all my pranks and finally decided to get me back. It was probably the most unpleasant and stinkiness of pranks ever but he did a good job. I never even saw it coming. I'll have to be more alert next time.

Since I didn't spend much time downtown this semester I talked on the phone a whole lot more to build relationships with my potential future dates. Some conversations went better then others. I often wonder why I even bother going out with the one's I can barely carry a conversation with over the phone. I suppose it's because I'm hoping they are different when we actually go out.

Whew! Junior year is finally over, only one more year to go. I'm getting real tired of going to classes and having to deal with grumpy professors. I did manage an A+ this semester without having to do anything but go to classes. I'm not sure how that happened but whatever and no, I didn't influence anyone to do my assignments or write my term paper. My first date total is now 37. It's making me kind of depressed. I'd really like to find someone to spend my future with and the more dates I go on the less likely it seems that'll ever happen.

Hope all is well,
Brad

Mom,

I've been thinking a lot about the phone conversation we had the other day and I'm still not totally sure why none of the woman I've met seem like the 'right' woman for me. I suppose I want someone with a little edge and independence but at the same time dreams of a big family. Yes, you read that correctly. I want to have a big family, 3-4 kids. This way I'll never run out of someone to play with.

Dad,

I think I may have pissed off a couple ladies I've dated. I swear the garbage can is always getting kicked over. The guys are pretty tired of having to pick it up all the time. I guess I'll have to find a way to make it up to them.

Alright, I'm sure you both remember how I told you about all the ranting and raving Perry did about the dorm's kitchen facilities and its staff. Well, it turns out Perry isn't much better in the kitchen. The guys and I had a good laugh when Perry burned his toaster pastry one morning. I doubt he'll ever live that down. Hehe!

Now that I'm not visiting downtown much I've had a chance to meet more college girls that walk by our place. Some are more interesting then other's but at least I'm meeting new people. I hope I'll find the future Mrs. Pitt soon.

Looks like I was right. Devon and the Countess are in love. They've been seeing each other since last semester and are perfect for one another. Of course, they're only able to see each othere at night so Devon sleeps during the day a lot now. I guess that's what most college kids do anyways. Me though, I just use the energizer and keep going all day, every day. I'm so glad that science nerd was in my dorm.

And with that my first semester senior year came to an end. I got another A+ and my current date total is 42.

It's official, I'm depressed now. How come Devon can find a girl he really likes but I can't. He's hardly even dated too. Ha! Nobody I know has dates as much as me.

Losing hope,
Brad

Dear Mom and Dad,

With school almost over and the thought of surviving in the real world becoming more of a reality I'm buckling down for some serious studying. Perry's also been working hard on mastering his cooking skills. He's sworn never to burn a meal again. The poor guy must have nightmares or something.

Sadly, I'm still dating new woman. I really hope that I find someone before I head back home. I can't wait to get started on that big family I want. I hope you're ready to be a grandma mom because even though I haven't found the right woman just yet I'm ready to be a dad. I'm looking forward to playing with my little bundles of joy.

A fire broke out in our kitchen one day when someone left their food unattended. I'm not completely sure who did it but I have my suspicions.

I'd probably put money down that George was behind the fire. A few minutes after the fire department left he grabbed the tv dinner from inside the oven and began eating the burnt, fire extinguisher tainted food. Yuck! If only his ladies knew. Heh! What I should be saying is if they only knew about each other. George would be in big trouble then.

I swear some of the girls I've dated are so petty and just plain...dumb. One day while I was outside talking on the phone a girl who caught me dating someone else showed up, grabbed our newspaper and took off. Did she really think I wouldn't see her? No wonder I haven't found a girl worth settling down with.

George and I had a good laugh over the silly girl stealing our newspaper later that night over a game of chess. I hate it when a girl I dated just once catches me out with another girl and gets all defensive. It drives me nuts. George is terrified that one of his girlfriends might catch him with another one. He does want 20 simataneous lovers afterall.

I'll be so glad when the school year ends and summer can begin. We had a late snowfall this semster and even though I'm not a huge fan of the cold George and I made the most out of the snow. I taunted him over a snowball fight becuase he missed me twice and was getting a little frustrated.

That was it though. George wasn't going to take anymore crap from me. He grabbed some snow, rolled up a fresh snowball and threw it at me. Too bad he missed. All those body skills I worked for really came in handy.

Love must have been in the air that night because on the other side of the yard Devon proposed to the Countess. He swore to spend the rest of his life making her happy. The Countess asked if he was really sure and he nodded.

Minutes after accepting his proposal she bit his neck. Devon had hoped the Countess would turn over a new leaf for him and take the available potion to become human again but she didn't want to. After some initial hesitation he agreed to let her bit him and turn him into a vampire.

It's very odd to see Devon as a vampire, but I must say the look is very becoming on him. I wonder what they'll do after he graduates. I can't imagine what his parents will say. I know you guys wouldn't be happy if I did something like that.

Finally, the moment arrived for me to graduate. When I got back from my last final reality started to sink in hard. I had gone out with 49 different women but not a single one seemed quite right for me. It would soon be time for me to head home and my biggest fear of going back alone was about to become a fact. There's one woman I've been talking with on the phone from time to time but the two of us have never found the time to hang out. Although, I have no hope at all maybe I'll ask her out and see how it goes.

I'll see you in a few days for my big graduation party. I've missed you both so much.

~Brad

Mom, Dad,

What happened to you? Why didn't you come to my graduation party or at least call to tell me you couldn't make it? I hope everything's okay.

Before I tell you about my graduation party let me tell you about the woman I mentioned in my last email. I decided to ask if she'd like to go out sometime so we agreed to meet up at the local coffee shop one afternoon. On my way over there I saw her walking so I had my taxi pick her up. Something remarkable happened when I got out of the cab at the coffee shop, I can't even explain it but it's like I fulfilled my life long goal or something.

*I downloaded Angelina off of ChaosAtta's sim page.

Angelina's her name and we spent several hours chatting over coffee. I got lost in her words. She's everything I've been looking for all these years. She wants to have a big family and maybe even adopt impoverished children from a 3rd world neighborhood. I see no reason why we couldn't do that someday. The date went better then I ever could have imagined. Who knew it would take going out with 50 different women to find the right one.

The date ended with a sweet kiss and a promise for another one.

I'm still working on maxing as many skill points as possible. I have a particular job in mind for when I graduate but in case I'm not able to get into it I want to be prepared for something else. I really hope I can find the job I want though.

Before graduation I just had to get Devon back for pulling that prank on me a couple semesters back. I waited until he least expected it and brought out the good ole joy buzzer. The look on his face when he was getting shocked was priceless.

During my graduation party I gave Angelina a couple gifts. We're looking forward to our future together but she has some more years of college left before we can be together full time. I'm hoping these gifts will help us in the future.

I cannot believe the time for me to head home has finally come. My time here at college has taught me a lot and I feel very prepared for the real world. Perhaps, the best part is I found a woman to spend my life with. What a huge relief that is.

I'm very excited to see both of you. I hope everything's well. I'll be home before you even get this letter probably but I figured I'd send it anyways.

Love always,
Brad

Be glad I didn't show you what Brad transitioned into. It's absolutely hideous. The other 3 guys got much better clothes when they graduated.

Brad Fun Stats:
He was caught cheating 13 times, had 2 bad dates and maxed almost all skills, only short 3 cooking and 1 creativity before graduation. His new LTW is to have 50 dream dates.

His Personality:
5 Neat, 8 Outgoing, 6 Active, 3 Serious, 3 Grouchy.

Thank you all for reading. I hope your enjoying it. Comments and constructive critism welcomed. It shouldn't take anymore then 2 weeks for me to get the next update out.

Another great entry...I love how you are telling it thru letters and can't wait to see the transition in full on Apo.

Keep up the good work! The first little while is always the most fun! Thanks for the cameo as well /grin/ I always like seeing my SimSelf(I should remake her since I got my hair cut).

AW, Brad's saving himself. LOL!

I find the grey on grey, or thin white on grey hard to see - and I have good vision after glasses (well, contacts today).

These boolprop legacies you refer to, provide links. :)

I guess that was Mrs. Crumplebottom. I've never seen her in my hoods.

Poor Brad...42 dates and so unfulfilled. Pffhh!

Yay for 50 first dates. If he marries Angelina (as he will of course) the dream dates should be easy as he can date his wife.

Will they really adopt? I still have that toddler on my sim page.

I thought for the Apo rules, they had to marry townies all the time. Is using Angelina - who will have graduated, by the sounds of things - legal?

FF I think they can marry NPC's aswell. And anyway Angelina could be a townie as there is a way to make sims you have created townies, lots of people make simselves into townies for their Legacies.
I 2nd FF's moan about the writing colour.
Love your Apoc. You actually made the uni years seem enjoyable. And mostly I skip parts which are uni years. Soon the fun will begin!*evil laugh*

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I made Angelina a college townie using boolprop. I had Brad ask her what skills she had and she responded I'm not really good at anything. I wonder if when a sim is turned into a townie they keep their skill points and jobs. That would be terrible becasue non of the simselves I uploaded had any skills or a job.

FF, you've never seen Mrs. Crumblebottom in your game? *jaw drops* You should take your sims downtown more often.

Pink, I'm glad you enjoyed Brad's college years. I completely agree with you that college years are usually fairly boring. :)

Alright, you ARE insane... I was just looking at the pet rules and scratching my head wondering how its possible at all with:

You may not purchase or use the litter box.
AND
Filling any pet food bowl, the wormrat cage or bird cages counts against the family’s “one meal per day” limit.
